Dear NODA Members,
Once again, it is my privilege to share some exciting news!
On behalf of the NODA Board of Directors and the Association
staff, I am proud to announce the launch of the new Association logo as part of
the ongoing evolution of our Association’s brand.
Last March, the NODA Board of Directors voted to adopt a
name change for the Association, and we became NODA - Association for
Orientation, Transition, and Retention in Higher Education. This new name
reflects the Association’s membership and purpose, which moves us towards our
strategic goal of being recognized as the leading voice and authority related
to the orientation, transition and retention of college students. After adoption of the name change, it was the
perfect time to evaluate our Association’s brand/ logo to ensure it was aligned
with who we are and where we are going. We began the process by soliciting member
input on what NODA means to you. This
information was passed along to a small taskforce, comprised of NODA members
and staff, who worked with a professional design company to shape drafts of new
logos. Finally, recommendations were
presented to the Board of Directors for discussion and vote.
new logo embodies the Association’s essence and future
direction. The icon artistically
captures the trio of the Association—orientation, transition, and
retention. The spectrum of colors blend and interact to represent
the diverse and vibrant community that is higher education. Finally, the
pseudo-acronym "noda” stands firmly
in place tying back to the previous two NODA logos. Below are different
representations of the new logo, which you will start seeing in
Association publications and marketing material:
The task in the upcoming months will be to update all of our
websites, publications, and other accouterments with the new logo. Additionally,
we will release a new style guide that will assist volunteers who are seeking
to use the new logo. We realize that incorporating a new logo is a process that
can involve many steps and take some time, so we will finalize it gradually.
It is with you in mind that we are excited to unveil our
new, fresh visual identity in an effort to further strengthen our position as the
leading voice in orientation, transition, and retention in higher education.
