Why was getting involved in NODA important to you? Getting involved with NODA has allowed me to connect and network with
other professionals throughout the association. Also, it allows me
connect on a deeper level with the field of orientation, transition, and
retention. On top of what I have gained by being involved, I have also
been able to give back to the association. I believe that those of us
who are involved with NODA do so because the association has made me a
better, stronger professional and I want to pay that forward through my
When and why did you get involved with NODA? I originally joined NODA as a graduate student as part of my NODA Intern
experience. On top of the opportunity to participate in the NODA
Intern program, I was also interested in the opportunities afforded to
graduate students and professionals through association membership.
Why should a member consider a leadership position in NODA? Being involved with NODA is a great professional experience, but on top
of that it is fun. I truly enjoy my time working with colleagues
throughout NODA. There is never a dull moment!
What have you gained from your leadership positions in NODA? I have gained a better understanding of the OTR field. I have also been
able to make connections throughout the association whom I am able to
reach out to regularly for advice, best practices, or inspiration!
What is your favorite NODA related memory? I think my favorite NODA-realted memory would have to be serving on the
2011 Annual Conference Committee in New Orleans. We had a blast planning
the conference and to see everything come together was both satisfying
