NODA President Elect, President, Past President  Position Description
The President of NODA is the chief officer and directs all agents in carrying out the processes and  services of the NODA. The President chairs the Executive Committee. The President-elect, President and Past-President are member of the Executive Committee.

The President shall serve as the President-Elect for a one year term prior to serving as President for one
year, and as Past President for a one year term after serving as President. 


Requirements & Qualifications 

1. Professional membership in NODA for no less than five years. NODA membership must be current at application and throughout term 
2. Current involvement in orientation, transition, and retention at an institution of higher education at time of application and throughout term 
3. At least two years of service in an appointed or elected NODA leadership position 
4. Leadership and management experience that reflect the skills needed to fulfill the President’s responsibilities 
5. Effective written and oral communication skills to represent the Board of Directors to the membership with clarity, professionalism and integrity 
6. Must provide documentation of institutional support 


Primary Responsibilities

President Elect: 
1. Perform the duties of the President in the absence of the President 
2. Serve on the Executive Committee
3. Direct the strategic planning process for the Association 
4. Participate in the selection of the NODAC Conference Host 
5. Complete other duties as delegated by the President


President: 
1. Serve as the chief elected officer for the Association 
2. Serve as Chair of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee 
3. Prepare the agenda, in consultation with the Executive Director, and presides at all meetings of NODA, including but not limited to, the meetings of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and the annual business meeting 
4. Serve as the Chair of the Personnel Committee which on behalf of the Board is responsible for the administration of personnel practices for the Executive Director 
5. Communicate routinely with the Executive Director regarding operations of the Association 
6. Make all leadership appointments with the approval of the Executive Committee based on recommendations from the Nominations Committee and in consultation with Association staff
7. Appoint ad-hoc committees and task forces as deemed necessary for specific functions/initiatives, with the approval of the Board of Directors and in consultation with the Association staff 
8. Maintain a relationship and communication with appropriate officials at the University of Minnesota 
9. Work with Executive Director to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external constituents
10. Serve as an ex-officio member of all committees


Past President: 
1. Serve on the Executive Committee
2. Serve as the chair of the Nominations and Elections Committee 
3. Serve on the Finance Committee 
4. Work with the Executive Director to compile the NODA Annual report 
5. Complete other duties as delegated by the President
