The NODA Regional Conferences offer attendees and regional members the opportunity to apply and nominate for regional awards. The awards that are offered at the regional level are as follows (click each individual form to view specifics and to apply/nominate).

Deadlines for regional awards are 11:59:59 PM CST on the following dates (applications will be time stamped upon completion):

  • Region I: January 26, 2017 - CLOSED
  • Region II: January 26, 2017 - CLOSED
  • Region III: March 3, 2017
  • Region IV: January 27, 2017 - CLOSED
  • Region V: February 24, 2017 - CLOSED
  • Region VI: February 3, 2017 - - CLOSED
  • Region VII: February 3, 2017 - CLOSED
  • Region VIII: February 10, 2017- - CLOSED
  • Region IX: January 26, 2017 - CLOSED

Outstanding Undergraduate Student Leader  -
Two and Four Year

The Regional Student Leadership Award is designed to give special recognition to students for their creativity, energy, enthusiasm and outstanding abilities, which are the backbone of successful and dynamic orientation programs. Two students may be selected from each region per year; one student from a four-year institution and one from a two-year institution.

The Regional Outstanding Graduate Student Leadership Award is designed to give special recognition to graduate students for their contributions to their campus orientation program, staff success, creativity and outstanding abilities.

Outstanding Orientation Professional*

This award recognizes outstanding contributions of a NODA professional to the field of orientation, transition, and retention. The award is based on the following:

  • Outstanding contributions to the orientation, transition, and retention profession (e.g. research, publications, presentations, etc.)
  • Development or enhancement of a model orientation, transition, and retention program that meets the varied needs of students.
  • Current NODA membership.
  • Outstanding regional or association-wide leadership.
  • Eight years or more experience in higher education.

Regional Innovative Program*

The Innovative Program Award is presented annually by NODA to a program or unique approach to a challenging situation and/or specific campus concern or need. It is the goal of NODA to recognize leaders and generate new knowledge within the field of orientation, transition and retention. This award seeks to recognize innovative and effective approaches that help university officials meet the changing needs on college and university campuses. It is also an opportunity to highlight good administrative and other practices and share different approaches to meeting student needs with colleagues at other institutions.

Regional Outstanding New Orientation Professional*

This award recognizes a new orientation, retention and transition professional who has demonstrated service to the NODA, and/or to the orientation, retention and transition profession.

Regional Showcase Awards

At the close of each regional conference, educational sessions will be deemed the "Regional Showcase Winner." The criteria for this award will be based upon the evaluation results and other factors deemed by the regional leadership team and conference planning committee. One award will be given for the best presentation by an undergraduate student presenter(s) and one will be for the best presentation by a professional/graduate student presenter(s). The Regional Showcase Session that is selected for the Professional/Graduate student presenter(s) will automatically be accepted as presentation at the next NODA Annual conference in the fall.

*The winners of these awards at the regional level will automatically be considered for the same award at the national level.
