She might be the newest member of the NODA Staff (at least for the next two weeks), but Event Specialist Shannon Gilligan Wehr is by no means new to NODA. "I have loved NODA since I was an undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota, working as an office assistant when Joyce [Joyce Holl, Executive Director of NODA] started," she says.

"Shannon was the first Student Office Assistant for NODA. She was instrumental in the development of opening the Association office at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities," says Joyce Holl. "Although an undergraduate student at the time, she brought great perspective and ideas on operations as we began to build the internal components for NODA members. I am thrilled to have her return to the NODA team as a professional staff member."

Some NODA members, specifically in Region V, might also recognize Shannon as a co-host of the 2017 Region V Conference in Sioux Falls. That's right - before joining the NODA Staff, Shannon contributed to NODA as a professional member in Region V, while she worked as the Associate Director of New Student and Family Programs at the University of Nebraska Omaha. Prior to the University of Nebraska Omaha, Shannon also held positions within the Orientation office at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and the University of Wisconsin Superior. She brings a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Women's History, a post baccalaureate certificate in Innovations in Multicultural Post Secondary Teaching and Learning, and a master's in Student Affairs to her position.

"NODA is a great place for people to connect and share resources with peers, and I am excited about the opportunity to combine my work experience in orientation with my passions for event planning and NODA," says Shannon.

This background at NODA is already contributing to Shannon's success in the Events Specialist position. As she works alongside Chad Henderson and Geida Cleveland on NODA's Events Team, her unique perspective allows her to relate to NODA volunteers and provide helpful guidance, both internally and to volunteers, based on her own experiences.

"Shannon has a bubbly, fun, and positive personality which radiates throughout the office. It feels like she has always been a part of the team, and I look forward to seeing the continued impact she has on the Association as a staff member," says NODA Marketing and Communications Coordinator Nikki Bartoloni.

Outside of the office, Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband Andrew and their two dogs, Willow and Wyatt (otherwise know as "Dude"). They all recently moved back to the Twin Cities after six years away, and are excited to be close to family again. Shannon enjoys hiking, spending time with her niece and three nephews, Netflix marathons, and cheering on the Minnesota Gophers.
