NODA Association Update from Joyce Holl
May 2018

As many NODA members prep for OTR programming, the NODA Association Office has been setting up registration for the 2018 Annual Conference in San Diego, which opened on June 4. The Conference Planning Team and NODA staff have done a fabulous job to provide you a great educational experience and you won’t want to miss this conference.

Thank you to the many NODA member institutions who were successful in posting and hiring a NODA student intern for the summer OTR programming. Hosting a summer intern is not only a great win for institutions, it is a great opportunity for students. There is a section in the May NODA Review summarizing this year's program. The Association Office's next step in this process is a review of your feedback so that we can make improvements for 2019. Watch for updates when we announce the NODA Internship program later this fall.

In the April NODA Review I noted that the Association is working with several other student affairs partners to keep track of federal legislation as it impacts higher education. Our commitment to NODA members is to provide an update monthly in the NODA Review. You will find a Governmental Relations Update providing information on the education policy under the Trump Administration, DACA, HEA, TRIO Programs and Title IX.

The Association Office is nearing eleven years as an established permanent office. We have seen tremendous growth as the evolution of NODA has changed over the years. With these changes, we have migrated more of the work that was managed by NODA volunteers and now with the Association Office. On occasion we have found the need to review the structure and financial implications of all that we do for our members. With the development of additional programming and the growth of the Association Office there is a need to implement changes with fee structures so that as an association we can continue to provide quality programming and enhance what we currently provide. As a result, the Finance Committee has been charged by the Board of Directors to develop short, mid and long term plans as it relates to revenue and expenses. One change that has recently been made is the membership rate has increased to $180 for professionals; $60 for students and $525 for Associate Members. As the Finance Committee continues to review all fees, we will inform you of any changes that impact our members.

As you launch your OTR programs don’t forget to send the Association Office pictures so that we can showcase your great work. Enjoy this exciting time of year as you welcome new students.

Until next time….
