NODA Association Update from Joyce Holl
June 2018

As was announced earlier this month, annual conference registration is now open. Be sure to register for the conference prior to the early bird rate ending in August. As a reminder for those with financial constraints, don’t forget to apply for the NODA Excellence Fund (NEF) to help defer your costs. The NEF Committee will review applications on an ongoing basis until the funds are no longer available.

As was announced in the May NODA Review, the NEF Committee has launched the Circle of Excellence recognition program. This program recognizes a NODA member who has served in leadership roles or who has helped advance NODA’s mission within the field of higher education and made a significant contribution to the Association. All funds raised through the nominee will be available for the NEF. Nominate someone you would like to see honored this fall.

NODA will be opening applications on July 9 for qualified candidates for Regional Coordinators in Regions II, III, IV, VIII and IX. New this year, the application process is two tiered. The first tier applicants will include information on their NODA involvement and experience; indicate their financial support/need; upload resume and references. The Nominations & Elections Committee will review applications to invite to the second tier where candidates will need to submit: a letter of financial support (or request for NEF funds); two letters of recommendation; a personal statement; photo and brief video. Interested NODA members are encouraged to contact the NODA Association Office with any questions about this important leadership opportunity.

We recently learned of the passing of Dr. Margaret (Peggy) Barr. Dr. Barr was a leader in student affairs and won numerous awards through her tenure. She edited and authored several publications in student affairs. She was involved with NODA in her early professional career and was the originator of "The Orientation Review", now known as the "NODA Review". NODA wishes to offer our condolences to her family and friends.

Until next time....
