NODA Association Update from Joyce Holl
September 2018

I am proud to share the newly approved NODA Equity, Inclusion and Social Justice Commitment. This commitment was developed by the Diversity & Inclusion Committee and was approved by the NODA Board of Directors. This goes beyond a statement to setting a foundation for the work that we not only do in student affairs but as an Association. NODA sees equity, inclusion and social justice as a priority and provides this commitment as a foundation for our work moving forward. As members you will notice many more efforts within the framework of equity, inclusion and social justice.

NODA and many partners in student affairs are proud to announce endorsement to Health and Wellbeing in Higher Education: A Commitment to Student Success, in making strategic commitments in pursuit of innovating, supporting, and fostering a holistic, integrated, and strategic approach to wellbeing from the association level to the institutional level.

The Associations who have committed to this initiative are:

  • American College Health Association (ACHA)
  • College Student Educators International (ACPA)
  • Association of College & University Housing Offices – International (ACUHO-I)
  •  Association of College Unions International (ACUI)
  • National Association for Campus Activities (NACA)
  • Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA)
  • NIRSA – Leaders in Collegiate Recreation
  • Association for Orientation, Transition, and Retention in Higher Education (NODA)

The Women’s Leadership Institute is in its 13th year and NODA is a partner along with several other student affairs associations. The event will take place December 2-5, 2018 in Newport Beach, California. The Institute is geared toward women in higher education who aspire to be senior leaders in higher education and share a passion for the profession.

NODA has recently joined with over 135 other endorsing organizations for the first annual International Pronouns Day taking place on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. This event seeks to make asking, sharing, and respecting personal pronouns commonplace. You can learn more about this event and find resources and ways you can participate here.

Until next time….
