NODA Association Update from Executive Director Joyce Holl
January 2018

Do you ever feel like time is flying by? It happens all of the time for me. I don’t know where January went as we head into a busy February with three of our regional conferences taking place: Region I, Region II, and Region IXI am excited to share with you that for the first time ever one NODA Association Office staff member will attend each regional conference. We are thrilled to join you and look forward to connecting with many of you in the region over the next months.

We recently launched a weekly update called NODAfications. This weekly email (every Tuesday), gives you up to date deadlines and reminders in a timely manner, all in one place. The January 16 email announced that we are now accepting applications for professionals and graduate students who do not have financial support to attend a regional conference. We encourage them to apply for a NODA Excellence Fund scholarshipThis opportunity is due to the generous contributions of our members. The deadline to apply is February 5, 2018.

January marks the beginning of a new year and the beginning of new terms for NODA volunteers and leaders. I want to thank Shawn Smee, Murray State University for his role in serving as NODA President in 2017. As Shawn transitions to the NODA Past President role we turn the gavel over to Quincy Spencer, University of Arkansas to serve his term as President. Quincy has shared his perspective as he transitions into his term as NODA President.

For those participating in the NODA Internship Programgood luck with the interview process. I know how valuable this program is to the institution hosts and graduate students. Thank you to everyone who contributes to the success of the program.

Until next time...

Joyce Holl
NODA Executive Director
