Do I have to be a NODA member to attend the conference?
Yes and no. Only graduate students and associate members have to be NODA members to attend the conference. Professionals in the field of orientation, transition, and retention do not have to be members to attend, but do receive a significant discount if they are NODA members. Undergraduate students do not have to be members to attend, and pay the same registration fee whether they are a member or not.

If I can't attend the conference but I purchased a membership to attend, can I be refunded?

Once paid, membership fees are nonrefundable. Depending on the time and date of your cancellation your conference fee may be refundable (see cancellation policy for details).

If I have multiple invoices for registration, can I pay with one check?
Yes! You can most definitely pay with one check, but please include copies of your invoices when you submit payment so we can apply the payment to the correct accounts.

How do I register my graduate student(s) for the conference?
Since graduate students have to be NODA members to attend the conference, they must also register themselves for the conference through their own member profile.

What are my payment options?
While registering for the conference you will have two options for payment, 'pay with a card' or 'pay with a check'. If you choose to 'pay with a check' an invoice will be created for you to pay at a later date. If you choose this option but then decide to pay with a card instead, you can sign in to your member profile, navigate to 'Manage Profile' and then click 'Invoices'. You can pay all open invoices at this page.

How do I register for the Orientation Professionals Institute (OPI)?
Registration for the OPI is separate than registration for the annual conference. You can attend both, but will need to register separately for both events. You can also choose to only attenOPI if you wish.

Educational Sessions

I submitted an educational session proposal. When will I know if it’s been accepted?
All those who submitted educational session proposals will be notified whether or not their proposal was selected for presentation.

Making Travel Plans

When do I need to book my hotel room?
We recommend that you book as early as possible. We know that many budget universities’ budget cycles begin on July 1 so that’s an opportune time to commit to the conference by completing the conference registration, booking your travel, and making your hotel reservation.

When should I arrive for the conference?
If this is your first NODA conference and you’re new to the profession, we highly recommend you register for and attend the Orientation Professionals Institute prior to the conference. Even if that’s not an option for you, arrive in time for the "New to NODA Meeting."

What should I wear?
At the NODA Annual Conference, business casual wear is acceptable at nearly all conference events. We recommend business attire for the Regional Receptions and the opening banquet. The Gala event, being held at the Speed Art Museum on the University of Louisville campus is a semi-formal attire event. 

Taxi, shuttle, or rental car?
For prices on the shuttle, taxis, and hotel parking, refer to the Plan Your Trip section of the conference website.

Conference Schedule and Guidebook

Can I get the conference schedule in advance?
Yes! The general schedule is available online several weeks prior to the event. Educational Session offerings and descriptions will be available prior to the conference via PDF or through the Conference’s Guidebook guide.

How do I know if an Educational Session is right for me?
In both the printed program materials and the Guidebook guide, we will note the intended audience (i.e. new professionals) and the type of institution might that might benefit most for each session.


How do I volunteer?
NODA members have a long history of service to the community and service to the Association. We have several opportunities for you to give of your time during the conference. You will be able to sign up for volunteering during conference registration, which will open on June 1. For details and descriptions, visit the ‘Volunteer’ section of the conference website.

Are meals covered in our registration fees?
Several meals during the conference are covered by the registration fees. Meals included are: the opening banquet, the Lunch with Exhibitors, and the closing brunch. Additionally, there is limited space in the authors events and meals are provided for those.
