The NODA Networks serve as the foundation of the Association in that they attempt to meet the many needs of our members. Each Network represents an opportunity for members to affiliate with a group in which they have personal or institutional interest. Members may align with several Networks and are encouraged to pursue leadership roles within the Network structure.

Network Chair applications for the following networks will be accepted between August 21 and September 11, 2017: Extended Orientation, GLBTA, Highly Selective, International, Large Institution, Nontraditional, Parent & Family, Transfer Student Services, and Two-Year Institutions.


  • Membership in NODA
  • Attendance at least one annual conference preferred. (For students, attendance at a regional conference is sufficient.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of regional and international structure of NODA
  • Understanding of and experience with the area of focus for the particular Network.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with the NODA leadership and constituents; follow through and complete designated assignments in an acceptable time period; and undertake and carry forward a variety of projects requiring independent judgment and initiative.
  • Ability to attend NODA annual conferences is preferred. A large majority of Network activity occurs at the annual conference.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with the Network Co-chair to raise the awareness, understanding and needs of the particular network issue or constituency.
  • Facilitate network activities during annual conferences, including but not limited to a Network meeting, educational session or roundtable discussion.
  • Communicate current issues and other topics relevant to the network with network members at least twice a year.
  • Using the NODA Member portal, maintain and continuously develop an electronic library of resources for NODA members
  • Submit reports of Network activities to the Board twice annually.
  • Promote membership recruitment and Network participation for both professionals and students at the annual conference and at the regional level; If appropriate, identify regional contacts (Regional Network Representatives-RNR’s) to promote Network activity to ensure that the certain Networks have a presence at each regional conference.
  • Recruit professionals aligned with the Network to submit conference program proposals targeted at the Network population for both the annual and regional conferences.
  • Provide continuous professional development and networking opportunities throughout the year for constituents. This may include webinars, drive-in conferences, etc.
  • Provide submissions for The NODA Review as requested.
  • Encourage the Network membership to submit articles and research for publication.
  • Serve as a resource person for Board of Directors, the membership of the Network and the larger association.
  • Assume additional related duties and responsibilities as necessary.
