Keynote Speaker

Jon Sexton serves as the Senior Vice President of Culture and Leadership Development at Vibrant Credit Union. In his role, Jon focuses on facilitating employee engagement initiatives, developing unique leadership development programs, and sustaining Vibrant’s surprisingly different work culture. As a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach, Sexton facilitates workshops and trainings to help team members understand how to tap into their natural talents. He also provides executive coaching for leaders to help them identify and leverage the strengths of their teams in order to ensure that staff have an opportunity to do what they do best everyday. Sexton spent over ten years in Higher Education at Grinnell College and the University of Iowa (where he earned a Masters in Student Development and a PhD in Educational Policy and Leadership Studies) prior to being drawn to Vibrant’s unique culture and the organization's stated desire to create impactful learning and development opportunities for their dynamic staff. "I had such a great time meeting and connecting with fellow orientation leaders from across the Midwest. I had the opportunity to lead a presentation, attend a keynote, and work on a case study. I also left with two awards. I am so glad I got to share this awesome experience with my amazing coworkers!"

UIS is one of three universities in the world-class University of Illinois System. Approximately 4,500 students enroll each year, seeking a U of I degree in the friendly learning environment of a smaller university. Located in the state capital, UIS has a special mission in public affairs, taking advantage of the living laboratory that is Illinois state government to prepare thousands of leaders in the state's public and non-profit sectors. UIS sits among more than 700 acres of beautifully landscaped, rolling prairie, and is close to Springfield's charming downtown, with its boutique shopping, restaurants, and the priceless historic sites that honor our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln.
