Conference Features
Educational Sessions

Peer-to-peer knowledge sharing is the cornerstone of NODA's 70+ year conference history and the backbone of the Association. Do you have research to share, innovations to brag about, or best practices that others may leverage on their campuses? Consider submitting a proposal to present an Educational Session at the 2019 Region V Conference. Proposals for educational sessions are due by January 31, 2019. Before submitting a proposal, please review our educational session proposal guidelines.

Along with session proposals, we are in search of professionals to peer review these proposals. In order to serve as a proposal reviewer, you must have presented at a national conference, regional conference or conference of a similar level. Reviews will be conducted through a double blind process, and will be evaluated according to a standardized rubric developed by the NODA Educational Initiatives Committee. In addition, reviewer feedback will be given to both selected and non-selected presentations in order to enhance the quality of the educational sessions. The deadline to submit an application to be a peer reviewer is January 24, 2019.

At the 2019 Regional Conference, we will celebrate the achievements of our members with our Regional Awards. These awards include:

  • Outstanding Undergraduate Student Leader - Two- and Four-Year
  • Outstanding Graduate Student
  • Outstanding Orientation Professional
  • Regional Innovative Program
  • Regional Outstanding New Orientation Professional
  • Regional Showcase Awards

We encourage you to nominate colleagues, students, and programs that you believe deserve to be recognized in these categories. Please learn more about each award before submitting a nomination. The deadline to submit an award nomination is January 31, 2019.

Fashion Show Description
We will conclude the conference with a fashion show during closing brunch. We encourage each institution to participate by providing up to two models who will show off their orientation gear. Participating institutions will need to compose a short description to be read during the fashion show.

Undergraduate Case Study Competition
Undergraduate students are encouraged to participate in the Case Study Competition. Participants will be paired with another undergraduate student on Friday evening, and will work together to prepare a response to their assigned scenario. Case Study presentations will take place on Saturday, March 16 from 8:00 - 9:00am.

All undergraduate students are expected to attend the Regional Orientation Leader Institute (ROLI), on Saturday, March 16 from 1:30 - 3:30pm. The conference keynote speaker, Wing Young Huie, will present a workshop entitled "What Do You See?".
Roll Call
Each institution should prepare a 30-second cheer to introduce themselves and show their spirit at the opening banquet. This fun activity is a CORE tradition in Region V!
