To help clarify NODA Board Meeting Types, which already exist but are not currently outlined, we move to add an article in the Governance and Leadership Section (1000) of the NODA Policy Manual as follows:
In accordance with NODA Bylaws, the NODA Board will hold at least two meetings per year. Board meetings are generally closed, but there are times when the board hosts other meeting types or opens traditional board meetings to allow attendance of additional association staff or members. This meeting policy outlines NODA Board Meeting options, as well as protocol for communication to the association after Board meetings.
NODA Board Meeting Types
- Closed Board Meeting – this is the default meeting type of the NODA Board where official business is conducted. These meetings take place at least twice per year.
- a. After each closed Board meeting, the President will communicate to the membership, providing a high-level overview of the work of the Board and any updates or actions taken at the Board meeting.
- Board Update Meeting – always closed meetings held between traditional Board meetings to allow for association and committee updates with the Board. No official business is conducted at these meetings.
- Annual Membership Meeting – typically held in the fall, this meeting provides an opportunity for all members to receive and participate in discussions on association-wide updates from the Board and Association office.
- a. Following each Annual Membership meeting, a summary of the meeting, including any materials provided during the meeting, will be provided to all members.
