Elected Positions

These roles are part of the formal governance structure of the Association and are selected through a vote of the membership.

Recruitment for these positions starts in the fall with elections happening in late fall / early winter. Appearance on the ballot is done through a nomination, including self-nominations, and a slating process coordinated by the Candidate Review and Elections Sub-Committee. Most elected positions take office on January 1st following the election.

Requirements: The President, President-Elect and Past-President must be a current member of NODA and meet the required qualifications as evaluated by the Candidate and Review Committee.

Term of Office: The President will serve as the President-Elect for a one year term prior to serving as President for one year and as Past-President for a one year term after serving as President.

Requirements: The Treasurer must be a current member of NODA and meet the required qualifications as evaluated by the Candidate and Review Committee.

Term of Office: The Treasurer will serve a three (3) year term of office and may be elected to consecutive terms.

Requirements: The Engagement and Access Officer must be a current member of NODA and meet the required qualifications as evaluated by the Candidate and Review Committee.

Term of Office: The Engagement and Access Officer will serve a three (3) year term of office and may be elected to consecutive terms.

Requirements: Any person who is a professional member of NODA is eligible for membership on the Board of Directors, provided that they meet the required qualifications as evaluated by the Candidate and Review Committee.

Term of Office: General Members of the Board of Directors are elected for terms of three (3) years and may serve an unlimited number of non-consecutive terms, but a maximum of two (2) consecutive terms.

Application & Review Process

Interested individuals must submit an application to be placed on the ballot. The application includes the following:

  • Question: “Why are you applying for an elected position and what skills/experience will you bring to this role?” (up to 350 words)
  • Question: Elected positions represent the Association as a whole. Describe your approach to considering the various communities, institution types, and membership types when making decisions. Provide examples of how you have advocated for a variety of communities in other roles.
  • Additional leadership roles outside of NODA (optional)
  • Résumé with NODA Involvement Highlighted
  • Institutional Support Form (completed by your current supervisor)
  • Submission of a 90 second introduction video
